Doug Acton Appointed as Teaching Pro at the Mill Valley Golf Course
The Mill Valley Arts and Recreation Department and Touchstone Golf, the operator of the Mill Valley Golf Course, are pleased to announce the appointment of Doug Acton as teaching professional at the Course.
After stints on the Asian Tour and the PGA Tour Doug turned to teaching, and for nearly 30 years has taught golf and managed golf course operations in Virginia, Carmel, and San Rafael. From 2010-14 Doug operated the Mill Valley Golf Course. He then moved to the Meadow Club in Fairfax, where, as Director of Instruction, he designed and managed a state-of-the-art training center.
James Birchall, VP of Operations for Touchstone Golf. “We are thrilled to have Doug Acton joining our team at Mill Valley Golf Course. Doug’s resume speaks for itself but his passion for Mill Valley and the community is what excites us the most. We look forward to our partnership with Doug and providing a welcoming place for instruction in our community.”
Sean McGrew, Director of Arts and Recreation for the City of Mill Valley, added “Doug has a unique relationship with our City, and our Course. In addition to holding the Course record, a remarkable 55 that he shares with one of his students, Niall Donegan, he has built lasting relationships with many new, and experienced, golfers. We are happy to have him back as the Mill Valley Golf Course continues to thrive under Touchstone’s management.”
Golfers of any level can contact Doug via email at swingmechanic@pga.com or (415) 847-5301.
